Is it for you? What makes it special?
Time flies when you’re having fun. How cool it would be for it to stop and make the fun go on forever. Well, wait no more! We’ve asked our guy, Cronus, for some specs, and came up with a build so fast, it makes time stand still. It’s our fastest gaming build yet, centered around NVIDIA’s top dog, the GeForce 4090, and AMD’s fastest AM4 CPU, a 16-core beast, the Ryzen 9 5950X. And it’s not just the processor and graphics, literally everything inside is top-tier – from storage to cooling and looks.
The platform
We’ve gone with an AM4 X670 motherboard that is feature-rich to join together for the speed-fest. The digital CPU VRM offers clean and efficient power for the CPU, while PCIe 4.0 for both the M2 and expansion slots provides no hindrance to interconnect performance. Audio quality is stellar by use of studio-grade capacitors and makes for jaw-dropping 7.1 surround sound. Front and rear USB 3.2 Type 2 ports make peripheral connections lightning-fast.
The CPU
AMD’s Ryzen 5950X is the fastest AM4 CPU – in layman’s terms, this 16-core beast redefines the performance yardstick – no conceivable desktop task is ever too much to handle. With a 4.9 GHz top clock and a massive 72 MB L3 cache, it offers a complete dose of mind-bending performance, and the 7 nm architecture keeps everything cool. Simply put, it makes fun of any workload you can throw at it!
The GPU
NVIDIA’s top graphics processor, the GeForce 4090 is the best anyone can get from a feature and 3D performance perspective. Once you’ve experienced its power, you become humble and speechless, while at the same time drooling over the visuals it can produce
The Memory
32 GB of 5200 MHz DDR5 is the current standard for any high-end build. We chose the Corsair dual-channel kit for its low latency, reliability, and iCUE RGB LEDs.
The power supply
Huge performance means big on power levels as well. No matter – we’ve put a 1200 W power supply inside the Cronus to handle all power demands at peak performance, and then some for added reliability. 80+ Titanium efficiency rating and modular sleeved cables round up the feature set.
The case
All these powerful components make for some pretty big heat output. We’ve dressed the Cronus in an ATX-size enclosure with a lot of cooling capacity to support both the liquid-cooled 16-core CPU and the air-cooled GeForce 4090. 5 aRGB fans provide the airflow and, thanks to Corsair’s iCUE technology, will dazzle you with a mood-setting orchestrated light show.
The Storage
The Samsung 990 PRO is the current NVMe desktop storage champion – with PCIe 4.0 and 3D vNAND it offers the best all-round performance, and it’s the preferred choice for every system build where blazingly-fast response and load times are key. To complete the storage setup, we’ve paired our champion with another 2 TB SATA SSD.
